West Country Firewood 01823 490 351It is best to store your logs undercover if possible, such as in a shed, under a porch or log store. The logs will still keep drying outside as rain will just dampen the surface of the logs on the top of the pile, but will soon dry out again. It is best to keep them just off the ground, and covered over if possible. If you have space to stack logs next to your fire, it is a good idea to transfer some inside your house a day or two before burning them. The warmth of your house (and the fireplace) will make any outside moisture evaporate, and improve their burning quality. We recommend that customers purchase their logs several weeks before they run out of their old stock. This will further improve the burning quality of the logs.
Sweep your chimney out at least once a year. Chimney fires are not nice, particularly if you have thatch! |
